| Indian Artists’ Camp to be held in Maldives |
| - An eminent Indian artists’ camp is to be held in the Maldives from 15th to 20th October 2007. Initiated by Artmosaic and facilitated by the Asia Media Information and Communication Center (AMIC) and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Information and Arts and the National Art Gallery, the camp will be attended by 8 leading Indian artists who have been widely exhibited both in India and abroad.
During their stay in the country the artists will also interact with the local artists’ community, students and the media. Details of this will soon be announced. The artists participating in the camp are: Aditya Basak, Amitabh Sengupta, Sunil De, Amitava Dhar, Sibaprasad Karchaudhuri, Bijan Choudhury, Chhatrapati Dutta and Debasish Sarkar.
The event will be the first of its kind hosted in the country and the NAG is working on making it a regular feature of the gallery’s annual programming. The benefits of hosting such camps are enormous in the light of limited opportunities for Maldivian students and artists to experience professional painters and visual artists at work.
